SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Jim Harbaugh is not about to get picky about wins, pretty or otherwise. His San Francisco 49ers barely beat the lowly Washington Redskins 17-13 on Sunday, and Harbaugh still found plenty of praise for his players making the big plays when it mattered most.San Francisco (7-4) has three straight victories and some much-needed momentum as it enters the seasons stretch run, with two remaining games against the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks (7-4), starting with the first meeting Thursday night. The Niners overcame three turnovers and more costly penalties. We turned the ball over and some teams will hang their heads when that happens, Harbaugh said. But thats not what this teams about. This teams about each other. Theyre about the team, the team, the team.Rookie Carlos Hyde scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 4-yard run with 2:59 left. The winning drive included Anquan Boldins 29-yard catch on which safety Ryan Clark was flagged for a 15-yard unnecessary roughness penalty for his hit. Boldin also had a 10-yard catch two plays later.Hes a shining star, a stalwart. I mean, who makes those plays? Harbaugh said.San Franciscos first-team offence scored its first touchdown in the fourth quarter all year. For the past couple weeks youve seen guys laying it all out on the line, Boldin said. Here are some other observations from Sundays game:BOLDINS BIG DAY: Before his clutch catches late, Boldin caught a 30-yard touchdown pass on San Franciscos initial series. The offence struggled much of the rest of the way, and Boldin told himself the offence would need at least one big play to win it. He delivered yet again.Hes proven time and time again that hes a reliable receiver, quarterback Colin Kaepernick said. Hes always a person thats going to make big plays, and he did right there for his team.Boldin, who caught a pair of touchdown passes in a win at Washington last November, finished with nine receptions for a season-high 137 yards.ALDON SMITHS FIRST START: Aldon Smith returned last week following a nine-game suspension and played regular snaps, then earned his first start Sunday and had a two-sack outing against Robert Griffin III.Smith insists hes not quite back to form, but making progress. There were several other plays he thought he should have made.Im getting there, said Smith, who also missed five games in 2013 while undergoing treatment following a DUI arrest. He sacked Griffin III on the second play of the game and again with the Redskins driving early in the third quarter to force a punt.Fill-in left tackle Morgan Moses received some of Smiths wrath.I try to play explosive and try to play aggressive and make the opponent, the guy Im going against, feel it, Smith said.He dislocated his left middle finger and popped it back in, saying, It was pretty weird looking.GRIFFIN III ON HIS BACK: Robert Griffin III has been sacked 16 times in his last three games, including five by San Francisco on Sunday as he faced constant pressure again.Even Smith was surprised he kept getting back to his feet.Griffin took criticism during the week for being hard on teammates, then seemed to let all that be forgotten as he kept his team in the game until the end.Theres one thing were not going to do, and thats quit. No matter how gloomy it might look, or whatevers being said, were going to stay positive, he said.MORRIS RUNS: Alfred Morris ran for a touchdown and his first 100-yard game of the season, a rare offensive bright spot for Washington.Morris had a 30-yard gain among his 21 carries for 125 yards.I stopped trying to think too much. I said this weeks ago, I was thinking too much, Morris said. Ive been playing this game since I was 5. I know how to be a runner. I just stopped thinking and stopped trying to make things happen that werent there. Each week has been getting better and better.REDSKINS INJURIES: Washington was already missing left tackle Trent Williams with a knee injury. The Redskins lost several other key faces Sunday. Washington also was missing David Amerson, who didnt play because of a violation of a team rule. Coach Jay Gruden wouldnt elaborate.Cornerback E.J. Biggers left in the first quarter with a concussion, while linebacker Adam Hayward went down with a right knee injury that Gruden called a knee tibia plateau fracture.Cornerback Tracy Porter sustained an AC separation in his right shoulder and was scheduled for an MRI exam on Monday. Running back Silas Redd Jr. suffered a rib contusion.Im really proud of the way they competed. They could have hung their heads, Gruden said. Moving forward if we can play with that type of effort and intensity and continue to prepare, I told our team I think some of these losses will turn into wins down the road.___AP NFL website: http://www.pro32.ap.org and http://www.twitter.com/AP_NFL DJ Chark Jersey . I kept my eyes focused up on the camera during each approach. I just tried to stay focused on my form, as I didnt know what the ball reaction was. I was quite emotional at the end. I did not actually see any of the shots in the game until I got home and watched the video. Malik Jackson Jersey . Erik Logan, president of the network, said Friday that the postponement was made after meetings with the St. Louis Rams. http://www.thejaguarsfansshop......ft-Jersey/ . The Philadelphia Eagles acquired running back Darren Sproles from the New Orleans Saints for a fifth-round draft pick on Tuesday. Keelan Cole Jersey . Messis 75th-minute goal answered some of the criticism the clubs all-time leading scorer had received for his lacklustre performances in the teams recent losses in the league, Champions League and Copa del Rey final. Marcell Dareus Jersey . Alexander was released last week by the Edmonton Eskimos, where he spent the past three seasons at safety. He had 121 defensive tackles, five special teams tackles and seven interceptions in 51 regular-season and three playoff games. CLEVELAND -- Pitching to J.D. Martinez didnt work out very well for the Cleveland Indians on Friday night. Facing Victor Martinez wasnt a very good idea either. J.D. Martinez hit a three-run homer, Victor Martinez added a two-run shot and the Detroit Tigers held on for a 6-4 victory. Rick Porcello (9-4) pitched six scoreless innings for the Tigers and Joe Nathan worked the ninth for his 15th save. But it was a big Martinez night for Detroit. Victor Martinez homered off Corey Kluber (6-5) in the fourth inning. J.D. Martinezs home run, following an intentional walk to Victor Martinez, came in the eighth off John Axford. J.D. Martinez was 3 for 4, extending his hitting streak to 10 games during which hes batting .447 (17 for 38) with four homers and raised his average to .317. "You see occasionally players get on a hot streak like this and I hope hes hot tomorrow," Detroit manager Brad Ausmus said. Victor Martinez, providing a big threat behind Miguel Cabrera, has 18 home runs and 47 RBIs with a .328 average. "When the season started I said the only guy who can protect Miguel is Miguel, but Im going to say now the other person who can protect Miguel would be Victor," Ausmus said. "So theres at least two." Indians manager Terry Francona agreed. "Hes the perfect guy behind Miggy," Francona said. "Miggys Miggy. He has that reputation and its well deserved, but Victor can hit all pitching. He can hit for power. He puts the bat on the ball when need be from both sides of the plate." Victor Martinez, who played for the Indians from 2002-09, is hitting .366 (70 for 191) with eight homers and 44 RBIs in 52 career games against his former team. Detroits designated hitter also continued his mastery over Kluber. Hes batting .471 (8 for 17) with two homers lifetime against the right-hander. "I dont think hes biased," Francona said. "Hes good against everybody." Victor Martinez belted Klubers first pitch deep into the seats in right field. The Indians walked him intentionally in the eighth, but J.D. Martinez ruined that strategy with his seventh home run. The Tigers took a 5-0 lead into the bottom of the eighth, but Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run homer and Carlos Santana had a solo shot off Ian Krol. Joba Chamberlain retired the final hitter of the inning and then Nathan struck out Michael Boourn with a runner on to end the game.dddddddddddd "My stress level got a little bit up in the eighth," Ausmus said. The Tigers returned to Progressive Field for the first time since they were swept in a three-game series last month. Detroit was 27-12 and held a seven-game lead in the AL Central, but suffered two walk-off losses, including a balk that scored the winning run in the 13th inning in the series finale. The sweep began a 10-20 tailspin which dropped the Tigers out of first place for the first time his season. Porcello, who is 9-3 lifetime against Cleveland, won for the first time since May 29 and for the second time in his last six starts. He was 7-1 with a 2.91 ERA in his first eight starts, but went 1-3 with a 6.00 ERA in the next five. Porcello allowed six hits, struck out three and walked one. "I had a good fastball," Porcello said. "My changeup was a big pitch. The way the guys played defence was fantastic too." Indians left fielder Michael Brantley singled as a pinch-hitter with two outs in the ninth, his first appearance since sustaining a concussion Monday. Porcello is 4-0 with a 1.47 ERA in five starts against Cleveland since 2013. Kluber hasnt won since May 30 after recording victories in four straight decisions. He gave up eight hits, struck out six and walked one. Ian Kinsler had an RBI double in the ninth. Tigers right fielder Torii Hunter missed his fourth straight game with a strained right hamstring. The crowd of 33,545 was the second-largest at Progressive Field this season, topped only by the home opener. NOTES: The Indians will induct Omar Vizquel into their Hall of Fame before Saturday nights game. He played for Cleveland from 1994-2004, won 11 Gold Gloves as a shortstop and finished his career with 2,877 hits. "Im very honoured," said Vizquel, the first base and infield coach for the Tigers. "Playing here was the highlight of my career."... Tigers C Alex Avila strongly disputed an Internet report that he is tipping pitches by tapping his glove. "Ive heard some crazy things, but that takes the cake," he said. "I think people are just searching for something."... The Indians recalled RHP Vinnie Pestano from Triple-A Columbus and optioned RHP Zach McAllister there. ... Tigers RHP Justin Verlander (6-7) takes on RHP Trevor Bauer (2-3) on Saturday. Verlander is 2-5 with a 7.83 ERA in his last seven starts.
